New three-book Black Library deal for William King

William King has signed a major new deal with the Black Library for a WARHAMMER 40K series, The Macharian Trilogy, based within the Imperial Guard.

William King was born in Stranraer, Scotland, and is one of Black Library’s best-selling authors, with sales in excess of half a million books. He started writing for Games Workshop in 1988, and later he worked in the design studio. His swords and sorcery series Gotrek & Felix and his Space Wolf novels have become a staple in the Black Library range. His short fiction has appeared in Interzone, Zenith, and a Year’s Best SF collection. He currently lives in Prague. This deal follows on his return to Black Library with a WARHAMMER trilogy featuring high elf characters Tyrion and Teclis, the first volume of which, Blood of Aenarion, will be published in December 2011.

The deal, for an undisclosed five-figure sum, was conducted with agent John Jarrold, and the first novel in the trilogy will be published in 2012.

Paul Kearney novels sold to Solaris

Jonathan Oliver, commissioning editor of Solaris Books, has acquired UK/US rights in the two previously-published SEA BEGGARS  novels by Paul Kearney plus a third and final volume,  STORM OF THE DEAD.  They will be published in a one-volume omnibus, following the success of Kearney’s MONARCHIES OF GOD books in this form with Solaris (who also publish his Macht novels, THE TEN THOUSAND, CORVUS and the forthcoming KINGS OF MORNING).

The book is due for publication late in 2012, and the agent was John Jarrold.

‘Paul and I are both delighted that this series will be completed and published in its entirety by Solaris,’ said John Jarrold.  ‘He is a major talent and anyone reading this or his other novels will see that very quickly.’

‘It’s a great pleasure to welcome Paul back to Solaris,’ editor-in-chief, Jonathan Oliver, said. ‘Fans of Paul’s will be delighted that the SEA BEGGARS series is finally seeing completion and new readers will be bowled over by the work of this brilliant and intelligent fantasy writer.’

Andy Remic joins JJLA

Author Andy Remic has joined the John Jarrold Literary Agency.  Andy is the author of nine published SF and Fantasy novels (with a tenth delivered), with Orbit, Solaris and Angry Robot since 2003. He has also written computer games and worked on short films.  He recently set up Anarchy Books, dealing with digital projects that contain novels, albums, video games and films.

‘Andy and I met on Saturday for a long chat. I’d already read quite a lot of his work and been impressed by its power and pace, and strong characters and afterwards I offered him representation,’ said John Jarrold. ‘I’m delighted to say he agreed.  David Gemmell, who I was fortunate enough  to publish in the 1990s, is obviously a major influence for some of his work, and he has new projects coming out of his ears!’

Andy said, ‘I am truly privileged to be working with one of the industry giants, a man whom I and all my SFF colleagues greatly respect. Together, I believe we can forge ahead and do something original and great!’
