World Fantasy Convention, awards, etc…
I was so delighted when agency client Chris Beckett won the Arthur C Clarke Award earlier this year for his very wonderful novel DARK EDEN – the first major award for an author I represent.
I’m just back from the World Fantasy Convention in Brighton. It was a terrific time for the agency and its authors, with major awards for John Gwynne’s MALICE – winner of the David Gemmell Morningstar Award for best fantasy debut of the year; and Adam Nevill’s LAST DAYS – winner of the British Fantasy Award for best horror novel of the year. They faced extremely stiff competition and I am delighted for them. And they are both published by the indefatigable Julie Crisp and her team at Macmillan/Tor UK – so many congratulations to her too. Orbit will publish John Gwynne’s MALICE in the US at the end of this year, and St Martin’s Press publish Adam Nevill across the pond.
This makes a great year for the agency. I am blessed to work with wonderful authors, and I’m proud that a one-man-band agency can achieve this in one year. And now: 2014. Onwards!
