Rajaniemi, Hannu
Hannu Rajaniemi is a Scottish-based Finnish writer. His debut novel, THE QUANTUM THIEF, plus two further books were acquired for world rights pre-emptively by Simon Spanton of Gollancz for a high five-figure sum in pounds sterling, on the basis of one chapter. The novel will be published in the UK in September 2010. German rights were pre-empted at the Frankfurt Book Fair by Carsten Polzin for a good five-figure sum in Euros. US rights were also acquired pre-emptively, by Patrick Nielsen Hayden of Tor, for a significant sum.
Hannu’s short fiction has featured in INTERZONE, Finnish magazines, the anthology NOVA SCOTIA and two Best of the Year SF anthologies, and he has written articles for scientific journals. He is now writing a novel. Hannu has a Ph D in string theory and is the co-founder of ThinkTank Mathematics Limited, a technology consultancy.
